Natural daylight that is non-direct and/or diffused is strongly recommended. No harsh shadows, no artificial light that is too warm/orange or too cool/blue. Fill-flash may be okay to use to reduce face/neck shadows, but the source should be a good distance away from the person so that the effect is subtle, natural, and not too harsh.
Simple and minimal styling unless your daily hair style is especially trendy/edgy/unique/avant-garde. Hair should be down / loose unless otherwise specified.
